FIFA and Miami Dade College Unveil Freedom Tower Exhibit Highlighting Soccer’s Impact on South Florida


MIAMI, FL – February 26, 2026- The FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee joined FIFA, Miami Dade College, and community leaders at the historic Freedom Tower to officially unveil a permanent FIFA Museum exhibit celebrating the cultural and economic impact of soccer in South Florida.


The event formalized a partnership between FIFA and Miami Dade College and featured a panel discussion on the global and local influence of the sport. Participants included FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee Co-Chair Rodney Barreto, Inter Miami Managing Owner Jorge Mas, and Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega.


During the discussion, leadership underscored the transformational opportunity the FIFA World Cup 2026™ represents for Miami-Dade County, including significant tourism and hospitality growth. 


“Our Fan Festival is happening. We are fully committed to delivering it,” said Rodney Barreto, Co-Chair of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee. “We have strong agreements in place with the City of Miami and Bayfront Park, and we are advancing planning in coordination with our partners at every level. Miami is ready to host the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and to showcase our community on the world stage.”

Barreto added “The Freedom Tower exhibit reflects the deep roots of soccer in our region and the lasting legacy this tournament will leave. From economic impact to community engagement, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be a defining moment for South Florida.”

Seven FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, including a Quarterfinal and the Third-Place Match. Planning continues to advance across transportation, public safety, and fan engagement initiatives, as Miami prepares to welcome the world.


The FIFA Museum exhibit at the Freedom Tower is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
