The Gold Rush are riding one of the most impressive waves of momentum in league history and at the center of it all is Odyssey Sims.
Sims extended her league-record streak of consecutive double-digit scoring performances to 34 games after pouring in 29 points on Wednesday night. The veteran guard has now reached double figures in 62 of her 64 career games, a model of consistency that continues to separate her from the pack.
But Sims’ dominance goes well beyond scoring.
She notched the 14th double-double of her AU Pro Basketball career, moving into sole possession of third place on the league’s all-time list. Earlier this season, she became the first player in league history to dish out 10 or more assists in a game 10 different times. Wednesday also marked the 13th time she has tallied double-digit assists during her career.
For her efforts, Sims earned Game MVP honors for the ninth consecutive game — the second-longest streak in league history. She also claimed her 36th career Game MVP award, the second-highest total by any player in an Athletes Unlimited sport.
Simply put: she’s redefining sustained excellence.
The Gold Rush as a team are benefiting from that leadership. After a 1-2 start, they’ve won six of their last seven games, improving to 22-21 overall under Sims’ captaincy. She also surpassed 700 leaderboard points for the second time this season and now owns a league-record nine career games with 700 or more points. Even more remarkable, she has recorded 500 or more leaderboard points in six of her last seven contests.
While Sims headlines the surge, she’s far from alone.
Forward Aneesah Morrow continues to dominate in the paint. She has scored 10 or more points in nine of 10 games this season, including 25 points on Wednesday night. Morrow has recorded at least 20 points three times this year and recently posted 17 first-half points — the most by any player in the opening 20 minutes of a game this season. She added 14 rebounds in the latest contest, securing her fifth double-double of the campaign, which ranks second in the league.
Center Kia Stokes has been a steady force defensively, recording her fifth double-digit rebounding performance of the season and pulling down at least nine boards in all 10 contests. Ariel Atkins has also found her rhythm, finishing in double figures for the sixth time this season, including her third straight outing after contributing 18 points in the win.
Even in competition, standout performances were everywhere. Forward Nalyssa Smith registered her 16th career AU Pro Basketball double-double, tying a league record, while other players across the league continued to post career milestones and season-best efforts.
The Gold Rush now turn their attention to their next matchup against the Rhythm on Thursday night. With Sims in peak form and the supporting cast stepping up consistently, the team appears poised to continue its climb.
If recent performances are any indication, this Gold Rush squad isn’t just winning — they’re building a legacy.
